Are they totally necessary, or just an excuse for the wealthy to spend a little more coin?  For those families that take yearly, summer vacations, like clockwork, I wonder why.  Is it really fun to waste spend thousands of dollars to be inconvenienced in a hotel for a few days?  It seems hardly relaxing to jam-pack five days full of costly activities that you’ll do just “once in a lifetime.”  Perhaps I’m just bitter, but I really don’t find vacations all that enjoyable.  Maybe I haven’t been on the right one just yet, or maybe it’s just been too long (seven years).  Let’s see how this one goes.
